This past weekend we celebrated our year. I have to admit … it was my first DBA annual meeting! I’ve attended state association meetings in the past, but never thought the local meeting would have much to offer. I was wrong.
This newbie arrived early and watched as different ministries set up tables for the exhibits. There were so many to visit and they each had great information on how we can have an impact on our city for the sake of the Gospel. Since I didn’t know what I was doing they assigned me to help with registration. I thought that would be an easy job until I watched the veterans greet hundreds of people by name and often with the name of the church they attend. It was an outpouring of the fruit of the Spirit .. love, joy, peace, patience … yes, they were all used that evening!
The meeting was more than I would have imagined! Scripture shared in three languages, the reading of new church plants, recognition for service, an inspiring message by Bob Dean and the Good News (and it is news!) shred by Pastor Jeff Warren. Before I knew it, the time concluded and it was time to go home. I stood at the reception desk and thanked people for attending. Everyone was smiling and the presence of the Holy Spirit was among us.
It had been a long day and I was tired. I took my time walking to my car and reflected on all I had heard. The more I thought about it the more excited I became about the work ahead of us. The Lord is going before us and blazing a trail for us to find if we will only be faithful to look for Him.
See you next year!
